Michael McCluskey is a Lecturer in the CAS Writing Program at Boston University. He was previously Lecturer in English at the University of York and a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at University College London. He is coeditor of Rural Modernity in Britain (Edinburgh University Press, 2018) and Aviation in Interwar British Literature and Culture (forthcoming from Palgrave Macmillan). He is working on a monograph of 1930s British documentary.

The GPO and Modernist Design
The 1938 documentary film Mony a Pickle (1938) stages a sequence in which a young couple imagines their future life in a flat of their own. As they each describe what they want in their new, modern home, their wishes come to life through the magic of trick photography.
