Jacqueline Shin

Jacqueline Shin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Towson University.  Her work primarily explores the intersections and conversations between modernist British literature and the visual arts; she is currently writing a study of the modernist ode and has written on Sylvia Townsend Warner, Virginia Woolf, and Elizabeth Bowen.


The Statues Still Stood: The Third Man and Third Spaces

Both blind and mute, often weathered by the sun, by wind and rain, by snow that drips or slides off in a kind of despair, statues on their own can tell us little except that time passes. Typically, we barely notice them, as they form the decorative backdrop to the drama of a place.
